Pennsylvania’s Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), Bureau of Radiation Protection (BRP) has alerted ACRRT that Continuing Education Units (CEU) are required for those who have earned the limited radiography certificate.
4 CEU Requirement
As a limited radiographer, you must comply with the LOW RISK Procedure requirements of a minimum of "two contact hours or four units of continuing education every four years".
The four (4) units of continuing education must cover subject matter or topics pertaining to your job as a limited radiographic technician:
- Basic Properties of Radiation
- Units of Measurement
- Sources of Radiation Exposure
- Methods of Radiation Protection
- Biological Effects of Radiation Exposure
- X-ray Equipment
- Imaging Recording and Processing
- Patient Exposure and Positioning
- Procedures
- Quality Assurance Program
- Regulation
Applicants for registration shall agree to perform the duties of a radiologic technologist only as directed by a duly licensed and qualified doctor in the health care specialties, and under no circumstances shall give out oral or written diagnosis, or work independently. "Duly licensed and qualified doctor in the health care specialties" refers to one who has demonstrated education and training in the use and effect of radiation.
